A Wren

JottingsLooked out of the kitchen window and saw a wren going about her lawful occasions, bright as a penny — or should I say, farthing? What enchanting birds they are, always so dapper and droll. As we lament (rightly) the loss of so many species, can we not also wonder whether future generations will be gladdened by the sight of birds and beasts as yet unevolved?
