Magnificat was designed and made between 1999 and 2002 and is an early example of an ebook made by a private press (Digitalnun in a former incarnation, so to say). It uses the techniques of the 1990s to recreate some of the elements of the bookwork of an earlier age but was not intended as mere pastiche —it was a serious exploration of the possibilities of what was then called electronic publishing and an attempt to make available at low cost what otherwise would have proved prohibitively expensive.
The ebook incorporates the Chapter House paintings of D. Werburg Welch, Stanbrook Abbey, Worcester, which were not then open to public view, and a life of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
