Guests

Welcoming guests to the monastery takes many forms. Howton Grove Priory is a comfortable house, the setting is superb and you can be sure we will do our best to make you feel at home. Throughout the year we organize a number of talks and short courses, most of which are free to attend, on religious/historical subjects.

Resident Accommodation for Guests

We have one twin-bedded guest room with en-suite bathroom for those who wish to make a short private retreat or spend some quiet time at the monastery. Many find that a few hours 'away' during the day can be helpful, so we are happy to receive people for a morning or afternoon, or just a few hours in the day. Overnight stays are limited to three nights maximum to ensure that the atmosphere of peace and recollection is maintained. Unfortunately, the bedroom is not suitable for anyone with disabilities as it is on the first floor (stairs only, no lift). For Safeguarding reasons, we are also unable to accept guests under the age of eighteen.

Guests are welcome to join us for the Divine Office and for meals. At certain times of year (such as Advent) we do not take guests so that we can give more time to prayer or meet the other commitments we have. Early booking is advisable.

Please note: we are currently unable to accept overnight bookings for the reasons given on our home page.

Groups

In addition to the courses and days of recollection that we run throughout the year, we can host small groups of up to fifteen persons for day conferences. These can be led by your own leader or by one of the monastic community. Morning coffee, a simple lunch and afternoon tea are provided unless you prefer to arrange a 'bring and share' lunch for participants. You are welcome to use the oratory, library and gardens for your meeting.

How to get here

Howton Grove Priory is situated just off the A465 Hereford to Abergavenny Road, on the right hand side of the bend as one comes out of the village of Wormbridge, just beyond the turning for Orcop.
